Why do we recommend this book?
What a fantastic original storyline. I absolutely loved all the characters and their backstories. The ending was so fantastic! So many exciting things happened in the last 20% of the book, and I could not stop reading. I really liked the world-building. I absolutely love when there is a map in a book, and in this book, there are maps, not one but two. So I absolutely loved it. You should surely give it a try.

Why do we recommend this book?
The Gilded Cage is an addictive fantasy with secret scheming and shocking plot twists. Set soon after the events of The Prison Healer, this one is a little calmer and takes the time to explore the main character’s shifting allegiances. We see many more side characters, including Naari and Tipp, the new royal characters, Kiva’s siblings, and healer friends. The romance between Jaren and Kiva is a slow burn which I love as it fits their personalities.

To summarise, this was better than the second book but not as good as the first. A well-written conclusion to an outstanding series. Kiva’s growth throughout the three books has been phenomenal. It delivers a quest, emotional drama, action, and an ending that fits everything we know about these characters and their arcs.
