Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife, Thea, has been faking it in the bedroom. When the secret gets revealed, he loses his cool, and it’s the final straw in their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realises he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him. Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage.

Why do we recommend this book?

This book is written in such a beautiful and fun way. It’s a book about a book club consisting of all men who read romance novels to try to understand women better. I loved watching the guys trying to find the hidden message in romance books. This book also tells us that to make a relationship work, you need to put effort into it. The main plot runs parallel to an actual storyline from a book Gavin is seeking guidance from. You will love reading it.

Madison Goldbloom is a wedding dress designer who loves her job. She is living in a small studio apartment in New York and dating a pediatrician. When her ex, Chase Black, who broke her heart, suddenly shows up at her door months after their painful breakup and asks her to play his fake fiancée in order to fulfil his father’s last wish, Maddie agrees to his horrible plan while promising herself not to fall victim to the Chase effect again. What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.

Why do we recommend this book?

This story is hands down outstanding in so many ways—from the highly entertaining and fast-paced plot, witty and funny dialogue, and intriguing and well-developed characters to the beautiful and poignant writing. Chase and Madison are the complete opposite of each other. When they dated in the past, Chase broke her heart, but now Chase wants Maddie’s help. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Chase and Madison with all the sexual innuendo. Truly one of the best Second Chance Romance books that you should give a try.

Lily has come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up. She graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. Ryle is a gorgeous neurosurgeon who is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. As Lily starts a new relationship with Ryle, she can’t seem to forget about her first love—Atlas Corrigan. Atlas was a homeless boy whom she saved when they were teens. Atlas was Lily’s Protector, her kindred spirit. When Atlas suddenly reappears in Lily’s life, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Why do we recommend this book?

It Ends With Us is a very personal book for Colleen Hoover. This book deals with many real-life and delicate situations. This book made me fall in love and then cry my eyes out. I am in awe of Lily. Her strength and conviction blew me away. This book made me realise that sometimes only love is not enough. Only saying “sorry” will not fix the mistakes you made. I am glad I read this book, even though it was a total emotional rollercoaster. Together with its sequel, It Starts With Us, they are two beautiful second-chance Romance books.

#5 RoomHate

RoomHate by Penelope Ward
RoomHate by Penelope Ward

About the Book

Title: RoomHate

Author: Penelope Ward

Genre: Romance, Contemporary, New Adult

Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform

Type: Standalone

Pages: 320

Goodreads rating: 3.9/5

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right? Not when it’s Justin… the only person I’d ever loved… who now hates me. When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise. The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago—the same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match. I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither of us is willing to give up the house. The worst part? He didn’t come alone. I’d soon realise there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

Why do we recommend this book?

This is a story of first loves and broken hearts, the story of two childhood friends that life took in different directions, only to bring them back together years later. It’s amazing how some loves stay with you forever, despite your every effort to move on. I feel like this whole book was ‘angst done right’. It pushes you to the very limits but doesn’t actually break the rules. There were many twists in this book which kept me on my edge.

#6 You Deserve Each Other

Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They’re preparing for their lavish wedding that’s three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him. Too bad the wedding planning is so far along, or else she’d probably call it quits. Her mother-in-law-to-be is a nightmare. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare. Whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they’re finally being themselves—and having fun with the last person they expect: each other.

Why do we recommend this book?

This book was truly fantastic, and I couldn’t have loved it more. The enemies to lovers, the banter, and the romance… wow.  I found myself laughing out loud in so many parts because Naomi delivers her lines so well. Nicholas is so sweet. He remembers everything about her, everything she likes, and he’s so proactive in making them work as a couple. The book’s second half was extremely sweet—it was a journey of discovering lost feelings and learning how to fall in love all over again. I am sure you will love it too.

#7 All Your Perfects

All Yours Perfect by Colleen Hoover
All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

About the Book

Title: All Your Perfects

Author: Colleen Hoover

Genre: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher: Atria Books

Type: Standalone

Pages: 305

Goodreads rating: 4.27/5

Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair. This book is told in alternating past and present chapters. In the past, you’ll learn about how Quinn and Graham meet when their worlds are crumbling apart, fall in love, and deciding to build a future together. In the present, you’ll learn about how Quinn and Graham are struggling to hold on to their happily ever after.

Why do we recommend this book?

All Your Perfects is the type of book that will immediately grip your soul from the beginning and hold onto it until the very end. The most important thing I like about it is that everything was so real and natural; it’s about marriage, it’s about struggle, it’s about unconditional love, and it’s about learning to forgive each other, but mostly learning to forgive yourself.

#8 Heart Of Obsidian

Heart Of Obsidian by Nalini Singh
Heart Of Obsidian by Nalini Singh

A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained blood-red.

A woman whose very existence has been erased.

A love story so dark, it may shatter the world itself.

A deadly price that must be paid.

The day of reckoning is here.

Psy Councilor Kaleb Krychek is one of the most powerful, cold, dangerous, emotionless and ruthless members of the Psy Council. He has no problem with killing his enemies and anyone who stands in his way of reaching his goals, one of those being in finding someone that disappeared from his life seven years ago—Sahara Nightstar. Sahara lost her memory when she was being held captive.

Why do we recommend this book?

I loved every single sentence in this book. This book is a beautiful, intense, dark love story full of emotions of two broken people meant to be together since they first met as children. It’s about how love can destroy two beautiful souls, yet only love can heal them. And about how powerful love can be between two souls; despite the pain, the cruelty, the torture both endured, nothing will keep them apart.

#9 Vicious

Vicious by L.J. Shen
Vicious by L.J. Shen

About the Book

Title: Vicious

Author: L.J. Shen

Genre: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher: Montlake

Type: Series

Name Of Series: Sinners of Saint

Goodreads rating: 4.4/5

For Emilia, Vicious is a brilliant lawyer. A skilled criminal. A beautiful liar. A bully and a saviour. A monster and a lover. The man who comes to her in her dreams also haunts her in her nightmares. He made her run away from the small town where they lived ten years ago.

For Vicious, Emilia is a starving artist. Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom. Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, his best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows his darkest secret and the daughter of the cheap Help his family hired to take care of their estate. That should deter him from chasing her, but it doesn’t.

Why do we recommend this book?

Vicious is an enemies-to-lovers story that left me practically salivating. The writing was absolutely brilliant. This story is a slow-burn, and the history between the main characters is well-developed. I adored how this story played out—nothing came easy, and it was a well-done journey. Vicious went from wanting to destroy Emilia, to lusting after her, to learning how to love her.

#10 Someone to Love

Someone to Love by Ruchita Mishra
Someone to Love by Ruchita Mishra

About the Book

Title: Someone to Love

Author: Ruchita Mishra

Genre: Romance

Publisher: Harlequin

Type: Standalone

Pages: 248

Goodreads rating: 4.07/5

Not everyone is lucky enough to find this kind of love. Koyal and Atharv are childhood friends. They are also soulmates. Confidantes. Kindred spirits. They are made for each other, only neither of them seems to have figured it out just yet. As they grow into adulthood, they turn to each other in sorrow and joy, only becoming closer. But then, one day, something happens, and their rare friendship is cruelly transformed into something a lot like hatred. Atharv, scarred and hurt, fumes with anger while impetuous Koyal presses the self-destruct button. Years later, just when they’ve both found peace within themselves, their paths cross again. And Destiny, that strange creature, has a few tricks up her sleeve. Will these two ever forgive each other? Or have they already lost their one chance to find someone to love?

Why do we recommend this book?

Someone to Love is a beautiful book about two childhood friends who had the chance to grow into something more, but because of miscommunication, they grew apart. This book also deals with matters that are very critical, like marital rape and domestic violence. I was so proud to see Koyal emerge from her difficult past to become such a successful person. I felt so heartbroken for Atharv and Koyal because when they needed their best friend the most, they were not there for each other. This book was a total emotional rollercoaster for me.
