Panem is a city and, in the center, it has Capitol with 12 districts surrounding it circularly. Now Capitol doesn’t want any rebellion or any uprising in the districts. So, every year they force each district to send a boy and a girl as a tribute, to participate in the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a fight-to-death game in which the selected people have to fight. And this year Katniss’ sister is selected. So in place of her sister, Katniss volunteers to go to the games. And the Hunger Games is the story all about how Katniss and Peeta, the boy tribute, survive and the rebellions they take part in.

If you liked Harry Potter, The Infernal devices, Divergent, or any other books like that, then you might enjoy this one too.

Review of The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games series had been on my to-be-read list for quite a long time. And finally, I read it around a year back. And it is everything I expected it to be and more.

The Hunger Games is a trilogy, i.e., it has three books in it. The first book is Hunger Games, the second is Catching Fire and, the last one is Mockingjay. The author has also published a prequel to this series called, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. You can read the prequel even after finishing the series.

The covers of the books are amazing and eye-catching, especially the one of the prequel. Also, the titles are well chosen. They are very relatable to the story and are simple, catchy, and short.

The start of the book is also very enthralling. It immediately sucks you into Katniss’s life and gets you curious about what is going to happen next.

Also, the storyline is awesome. There are a lot of unexpected twists and turns in this series. And the endings are as well neatly done. They keep you satisfied yet curious about the next book. Suspense is very appropriately maintained.

All the characters in this book are as well lovable. Though I love Rue, Gale, and of course, Katniss a bit more. I was attracted by their different qualities, but the ones in common were loving, caring, and yet that fierceness in them when it came to their enemies.
The pace of the book is perfect too. It is just right. Slow when the scene demanded it and fast when needed. Overall it’s a medium-paced book.

Though the writing style of the author could have been better. If there had been more details in the story, it would have been perfect. Also, I would have loved to see the story from other characters’ points of view. In some scenes, Peeta’s point of view would have been awesome.

Overall, it is an action-packed, adventurous, and dramatic series.

Below is a more detailed summary of all the books in this series. And as well as a review of each book.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Title: Catching Fire

Author: Suzanne Collins

Katniss and Peeta have started a rebellion in the first book. She’s supposed to stop the rebellion but she is not sure if she wants to. While she is on a glory tour of sorts, the Capitol gives them a huge surprise when they arrive there. And this surprise might just be what it takes to convert Katniss to the rebellion’s side. But, will she really choose the rebels?

Mini-Review:

There are so many twists and turns that make the book so interesting. And, as if this action is not enough, there is a love triangle going on the side. It’s so fun guessing who she will choose, Peeta or Gale.

Rating: 5/5

Recommendation: A huge YESSS!!!

The pace is a bit slower than the other two books as the games are not there. But you will not find a dull moment in it. There is lots of action and suspense going on. And the epilogue is everything.
