Book Review of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - Favbookhelf

The Night Circus is a book about magic, competition and love, and today we will give our honest review of this book in this article.

In a circus that only opens at night (hence called the night circus), Celia and Marco are two magicians who have been brought up to battle each other. Both of them have to outperform each other in terms of the magical skills that they have been honing since their childhood. The two rival magicians slowly fall in love, and that has several dangerous consequences. ( rivals remember?)

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

Book Review Of The Night Circus

The book’s cover is very pretty with a black and white design with some red in it for colour. There are several versions of the cover, so if you do not like one, there are several others readers can choose from. My favourite is the one with Marco and Celia at the opposite ends.

Erin Morgenstern writes beautifully. She creates a vivid imagination of the magical world and the night circus with its black and white stripes. The prose is very flowery and lyrical, making the readers want to attend the night circus. The Night Circus starts slowly with the story jumping between the differing points of view of Cecilia, Marco, Chandresh, Bailey, and Isobel. Every character has their own story, motivations, and goals, and when all the storylines connect like pieces of a puzzle, we see the little things that happened at the start come together at the end. When the stories of every character start to align, the book’s magic emerges. It is a beautiful world where the reader can immerse themselves in the characters in this fantastical world of magic and enchantment.

The only problem I have is that there are no rules and regulations on how to use magic. The use of magic is inconsistent, and the characters can do whatever they want, as there is no clear indication of the limit.

This book has a charm that keeps the readers hooked on its pages. Those who love reading fantasy books with magic as the primary focus will enjoy The Night Circus.

Conclusion

Rating: 4/5

Recommendation: I would definitely recommend it to those readers who love fantasy books and magic.
