Nora Stephens’ life is books—she’s read them all. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. She is a ruthlessly ambitious literary agent who identifies more with the villains in romance movies than the heroines. Libby is swayed by her sister to spend the summer together in a picturesque small town, Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. The last person she expects to run into at Sunshine Falls is Charlie Lastra—the surly editor she’s avoided since their disastrous first meeting.

Nora and Charlie are thrown together in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow. What they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

Book Lovers Book Review

Romance has always been a delicate yet intricately fragrant piece of reading for me. I’ve always enjoyed romance as a genre.

Nora believes she is the type of heroine who is left behind. She is not the girl that gets a happy ending. Multiple past boyfriends have left her behind for wholesome countrywomen who bake and dutifully pop out kids.

Nora is carrier driven woman, ambitious, and very particular about the shoes she wears. Obviously, not the kind of woman someone wants to be in the long term. So when her sister Libby suggests a getaway to the country and, who knows, maybe her own country romance, Nora reluctantly comes along. Instead of meeting some sexy lumberjack in that small town, she meets Charlie Lastra- a fierce editor from New York.

“That’s the thing about women. There’s no good way to be. Wear your emotions on your sleeve and you’re hysterical. Keep them tucked away where your boyfriend doesn’t have to tend to them and you’re a heartless bitch.”

Her first meeting with Charlie was a disaster. She was late for the first time, and Charlie was his brooding self the whole time. Charlie is the perfect combination of sweet and sarcastic and aloof and brooding. I love how similar experiences have shaped Nora and Charlie.

Nora has always felt like it’s her job to take care of Libby, and Charlie also feels like it’s his job to take on the family business, and they both felt this way because of their childhood experiences. They’re Soulmates. They complete each other so beautifully.

“Just because not everyone gets you doesn’t mean you’re wrong.”

Aside from romance, this book also highlights the relationship dynamic between two sisters. Nora and Libby have had each other since their mother died, and Nora has ensured that Libby is okay for a long time. Nora feels responsible for Libby. She is still her little sister.

Libby might not want Nora to feel responsible for her anymore, and of which, Nora starts to feel that Libby is hiding something from her. Their relationship is beautifully written. The author has wonderfully captured different relationship dynamics.

Conclusion

Rating: 5 / 5

Recommendation: Undoubtedly. 100%

I love reading a book that makes me stupidly optimistic that maybe I can find a very hot and swoon-worthy guy who can deal with me in all my control freak, neurotic, workaholic, city girl glory. one can dream. I am sure you will love this book as much as I did.
