Vampires and other supernatural myths born from folklore have always been a subject of fascination. A fascination was further ignited by excellent fiction novels where authors bring brilliant twists to the classics. So here we bring you a list of best vampire books that offer something different to this concept.
P.S. All the books have been arranged alphabetically because the article writer is OCD-ed. And because books should never be ranked according to anything, ever.
So, lets get started with the list of the best vampire books:
#1 A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole
About the Book
Title: A Hunger Like No Other
Author: Kresley Cole
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Pocket Star
Type: Standalone
Pages: 360
Goodreads rating: 4.1/5
Immortals After Dark is a series of standalone that all share the same world – The Lore, where every mythical creature you could think about is real. A Hunger Like No Other is the first book in the series with a vampire and a werewolf as its protagonist. Lachlain MacRieve, the leader of the Lykae Clan and a werewolf, hates vampires. So imagine his feelings when he discovered the mate he had waited for millennia is a vampire. He loathes it, even though he burns for her. Just when Emmaline decides to investigate the truth about her parent’s death, the powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and takes her to his castle, starting his seduction to break down her walls. But when Emmaline’s past comes to the front, they both find themselves in unchartered waters with their feelings and powers.
Why do we recommend this book?
The world of Lore is stunning, and y’all need to read the Immortal After Dark Series as a whole (sure, there are more than 15 books, but they all are so worth it), but A Hunger Like No Other is one of the few storylines that primarily deals with vampires. Emmaline and Lachlain’s relationship developed naturally, and the fluff and angst were in equal measures. The world-building is brilliant, the writing flow is very uncomplicated, and the characters are well written. Must read!

However, she doesn’t know that she inadvertently started a domino effect when Diana discovered the book. All Souls series follows Diana’s journey to self-acceptance and her solving the mystery of that book. She grows closer to an even more mysterious vampire Matthew Clairmont getting entangled in a forbidden romance.
Why do we recommend this book?
Matthew is love. He is the perfect boyfriend material. And Diana is so badass! They are perfect together, and the magical theme of the book doesn’t overshadow the more physical aspect of having a vampire protagonist. It has got time traveling too! Did we mention Matthew is perfect? Well, he is, so go and read it!

#3 Ancient Blood: A Novel of the Hegemony by Brian McKinley
About the Book

Avery has always been a devout lover of all things vampire. So when his one-night stand turns out to be a vampire on the run, he finds his dreams coming true. But when he follows her and finds himself entrapped in her creator’s island mansion, his dreams shatter. There is a gathering of the most powerful vampires on Earth, the Hegemony, occurring at the estate. And Avery and Caroline soon find themselves involved in the plots and conspiracies between these creatures of the night. Their survival becomes even more complicated when Sebastian’s schemes reveal his plans to change The Order, the immortal aristocracy. The first book in The Order Saga, Ancient Blood, is a tribute to the traditional folklore about vampires and their myths.
Why do we recommend this book?
Oh, this one is so much fun. All the politics, including Ancient Blood, deliver on what it promised – horror, a gothic tale about night dwellers who are more human than they seem in their thinking, in both the good and the cruel way. The writing enhances the haunting component of the story, and it’s a must-read for vampire lovers!

#4 Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
About the Book
Title: Certain Dark Things

Pages: 272
Goodreads rating: 3.8/5
Vampires, humans, cops, and criminals collide in the dark streets of Mexico City. Atl, the descendant of Aztec blood drinkers, is on the run from a rival vampire clan. Domingo is a garbage-collecting street kid. Just trying to survive somehow in the city. When their paths collide, their lives turn upside down. Domingo is immediately fascinated with the danger surrounding Atl, and she, too, finds herself falling for his charms and innocence. But the number of corpses is increasing, and the cops and crime lords both are after Atl and Domingo. In Mexico, no one is safe from the city. Be it human or supernatural. Will the two be able to survive till the very end?
Why do we recommend this book?
It’s a re-imagined vampire world, with neo-noir genre components included. The plot is interesting, the characters are complex, and the problems are severe enough to consider life-threatening. The relationship development of Domingo and Atl is highly satisfying, and they were super adorable. Also, they need a break to breathe, man. The setting for the plot (Mexico City ravaged by crimes – both from humans and the supernatural) added to the tension. Give it a try!

#5 Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
About the Book
Title: Dark Lover
Author: J.R. Ward
Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Adult
Publisher: Penguin Group
Type: Standalone
Pages: 393
Goodreads rating: 4.2/5
Wrath is the only purebred vampire left in the world and the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, and it’s only his thirst for revenge that keeps him going on – revenge on the people who killed his parents centuries ago. But when one of his warriors is killed, Wrath is forced to take responsibility for a half-bred girl who isn’t even aware of her heritage. It would not have been difficult if only her presence didn’t stir up his long-dead heart. And he isn’t the only one with inconvenient feelings. Beth Randall isn’t sure why Wrath’s presence affects her body and heart. It can’t be just because of how gorgeous he is. The first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, Dark Lover, is an addictive read with a romance passionate enough to burn ice.
Why do we recommend this book?
Wrath and Beth are super-hot together, and the whole Black Dagger Brotherhood gang of supernatural was a treat to read about. Each character is interesting, and it helps that they all have their books down the series. Still, the first book is where everything starts from, and Dark Lover is, without a doubt, the best book of the series, at least for us.

#6 Deep in Your Veins Series by Suzanne Wright
About the Book
Title: Deep in Your Veins
Author: Suzanne Wright
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Self-published
Type: Series
No. of Books: 7
Books in it: #1 Here be Sexist Vampire, #2 The Bite that Binds, #3 Taste of Torment, #4 Consumed, #5 Fractured, #6 Captivated, #7 Touch of Rapture
Goodreads rating: 4.1/5
Sam Parker is a relatively newborn vampire (just a few decades old), but her vampire gift is so powerful that it lands her a post in the legion at The Hollow, a gated community where the Grand High Master resides. She loves it here, except for all the sexist legion members whom she is supposed to train and her co-commander’s irresistible, annoying prick, who is also the heir apparent for the Grand High Master. Jared has made it clear repeatedly that he might want her in his bed, but she won’t ever belong there. See, a prick. But as dangers start to close in on The Hollow, Jared and Sam are forced to work alongside each other. And as their chemistry blows up, Jared realizes that he seriously underestimated this woman.
Why do we recommend this book?
Ok, so Jared is super annoying for most of the first book, but he gets better! The following books focus on his past and the reason behind all the stupid things he spouted throughout the first half of the first book (yeah, a little bitter about that), and it manages to justify him to a certain level. We are satisfied with his growth, Sam is ultra badass, and their romance is hot. Plus, The Hollow seems like such a fascinating place to live in!
P.S.: This book is available on Kindle Unlimited. If you have subscribed to it, then you can read this book for free.

#7 Forever Evermore Series by Scarlett Dawn
About the Book
Title: Forever Evermore
Author: Scarlett Dawn
Genre: Fantasy, New Adult, Romance
Publisher: Escape Publishing
Type: Series
No. of Books: 6 (and ongoing)
Books in it: #1 King Hall, #2 King Cave, #3 King Tomb, #4 Chosen Thief, #5 Chosen Fool, #6 Chosen One, #7 Chosen Stars (to be published)
Goodreads rating: 4.2/5
King Hall is where the Mysticals go to learn their craft. The supernatural world consists of Shifters, Vampires, Mages, and Elementals. It’s where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies. For Lily Ruckler, survival is more important than achieving. Born as a hybrid mystical, her very existence is forbidden. But when she’s crowned the future queen of shifters, the spotlight is on. Despite the risks, she finds solace in her growing friendship with the other three prodigies, especially Ezra, the wickedly gorgeous vampire. The calm shatters when the peace between the Commoners and the Mysticals breaks, and Lilly finds herself in the eye of the storm, at the centre of a revolution.
Why do we recommend this book?
Lily’s transition from an insecure, isolated girl into a badass queen by the end of her story is honestly amazing. The romance is nice, but the world-building is even more brilliant. Speaking of romance, Ezra again proves why vampires are indeed the hottest. And why we are so obsessed with them.

#8 Hidden Species by Louisa Winters
About the Series
Title: Hidden Species
Author: Louisa Winters
Genre: LGBT, Gay, Romance, Paranormal
Publisher: Independently PUblished
Type: Series
No. of Books in it: 4
Books in it: #1 Demons Do it Better, #2 One Bite with a Vampire, #3 Hijinks with a Hellhound, #4 Sorcerers Always Satisfy
Goodreads Rating: 4.2 / 5
So in this series, the romantic journey of Lucifer’s elite team members is told parallelly with a fantasy plot. The first book is a tale of Sam and Gideon. In the second, we know about Andrew and Noah’s story, and in the third, Alistair and Aidan’s story is told. And in the final book, the tale of David and Caolan is revealed. I can’t give you much of the plot description without giving spoilers. So, I just tell you to expect the unexpected. 😉
P.S.: This series is available on Kindle Unlimited. If you have subscribed to it, you can read this book for free.
Why do we recommend this book?
I had an enjoyable time reading this series. There were lots of unique concepts introduced in this book. And it was not like the usual Lucifer-themed books. It was fun knowing these characters. It’s one of my top LGBT book recommendations.

#9 Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost

Publisher: Avon Publishing
Type: Series
No. of Books: 7
Books in it: #1 Halfway to the Grave, #2 One Foot in the Grave, #3 At Grave’s End, #4 Destined for an Early Grave, #5 This Side of the Grave, #6 One Grave at a Time, #7 Up From the Grave
Goodreads rating: 4.1/5
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is constantly flirting with the grave. She is hunting for her father among the vampires, the guy who ruined her mother’s life. When she gets caught by the bounty hunter, sexy vampire Bones, she makes a deal with him. As her training with him begins, Catherine slowly begins to find the meaning of her half-dead life again. But Cat is always surrounded by dangers. And a group of killers isn’t anything new for her to tackle. Except they are proving to be a lot more wearing than she expected. As dangers grow around Cat and Bones, so does their connection. If she doesn’t want to lose her heart to the night stalker, she would have to fight the temptation (Which is more tiring than fighting off hordes of killers).
Why do we recommend this book?
Night Huntress Series shares a universe with various other series by Jeaniene Frost, and the author recommends the correct reading sequence to avoid spoilers. However, we would recommend just straight-up reading this series. You won’t miss anything (mostly). Plus, Cat and Bones are the best characters of Frost (don’t both argue, they are), so go for it without a second thought!

#11 Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill
About the Book
Title: Some Girls Bite
Author: Chloe Neill
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Adult
Publisher: Berkley Books
Type: Standalone (1st book in Chicagoland Vampires Series)
Pages: 341
Goodreads rating: 4/5
Merit finds a new meaning in ordinary life when that life is taken from her. A vampire attack has her snatched away from her college life to Cadogan House, her ‘master’ Ethan Sullivan’s estate. The arrogant vampire expects her to be grateful to him for saving her life when gratitude is the least of the things she feels for him. But as a recently turned vampire, Merit can’t go heads-to-heads with a four-hundred-year vampire. It’s got nothing to do with his deep green mesmerizing eyes and their attractive chemistry. But it’s not even the worst part of her new life. There is someone out there who is playing with war plans. Merit’s vampire life is just starting.
Why do we recommend this book?
The series is long, but the development of the characters both individually and as a group? Simply awesome. Still, nothing beats this book, which is where we get acquainted with the world of the supernatural, their laws, and the overall vampire community as a whole. Merit is such a sassy, no-nonsense character, and Ethan is so gorgeous (a little objectifying is healthy, we have heard). Their dynamic is hilarious and steamy simultaneously, and y’all need to read it.

#12 The Chosen Chronicles Series by Karen Dales
About the Book
Title: The Chosen Chronicles
Author: Karen Dales
Genre: Paranormal, Fantasy, Horror
Publisher: Dark Dragon Publications
Type: Series
No. of Books: 2
Books in it: #1 Angel of Death, #2 Shadow of Death
Goodreads rating: 4.2/5
London Vampires are getting murdered. And Angel is the only one who can help them. Forced into an unlikely partnership with Fernando, a sadistic vampire, and Jeanie, a mortal, Angel steps out to solve the mystery behind the killings. But the closer he gets to the truth, he starts to figure out more about himself and his demons from his past. As his feelings for Jeanie develop, so does his fear – of what he is and what he can do. The Chosen Chronicles follow the Angel of Death, who lives in a world of supernatural, yet cannot define his existence. There is also a prelude boo in the series, Changeling, that focuses on the origin story of Angel and his past in detail.
Why do we recommend this book?
The world-building is nuts (in a completely fantastic way). Plus, it’s London. The weather itself is a character, and it’s brilliant how the writer uses the background setting to advance the plot while enhancing the character’s growth simultaneously. But, seriously, if you haven’t read this yet, you are missing out on a lot.

#13 VRC: Vampire Related Crimes by Alice Winters
About the Series
Title: VRC: Vampire Related Crimes
Author: Alice Winters
Genre: LGBT, Vampires, Romance
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services
Type: Series
No. of Books in it: 4
Books in it: #1 How to Vex a Vampire, #2 How to Elude a Vampire, #3 How to Lure a Hunter, #4 How to Save a Human
Goodreads Rating: 4.3 / 5
*This series has some triggers concerning violence.
This series is around the Vampire Related Crimes organization. It’s like the FBI, except it deals with all the problems relating to the vampires. And it tells us the romantic story of one of its team. The first and second books tell us the story of Finn and Marcus, and the third one tells us about the relationship between Claude and Alexei. And the fourth and final book tells us about River and Bentley.
P.S.: This series is available on Kindle Unlimited. If you have subscribed to it, you can read this book for free.
Why do we recommend this book?
I was looking for some vampire romance when I came across this one. It is an Epic read. There were so many fun moments. I have laughed so many times while reading this series that I have lost the count. This is probably one of my favorite LGBT series (shhh… don’t tell that to my other favorites). The characters are all AMAZING! I would recommend it to anyone looking for an Lgbt romance book recommendation.

That’s all for recommendations for now. To conclude with a fun fact for vampire lovers: do you know why mirrors don’t reflect vampires (according to original myths)? The original tale about them had to do with a silver (you could kill a vampire using silver) – all the old age mirrors used to have silver frames, hence the origin of this misbelief.
