A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Trilogy Review

First things first—I am OBSESSED with this series. Like, I could not stop reading. It’s all about peeling back layers and layers of lies to find one, elusive truth. And let me tell you, the deeper you go, the crazier it gets!

Let’s start with the title. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder? Come on, how awesome is that? It immediately grabs your attention. And the covers? So unique! They show all the tangled threads and suspects our main girl Pippa has to untangle. Trust me, you’ll be hooked before you even open the book.

The first book kicks off with a bang—fast-paced, full of twists, and dripping with that true crime vibe we all love. If you’re into murder mysteries or binge-watch true crime documentaries, this is your jam.

The whole trilogy is told from Pippa’s point of view (she’s our amateur sleuth, by the way). And here’s something cool: there’s a podcast element woven into the story. You get to listen in as she interviews suspects and pieces together the puzzle. It’s like you’re part of the investigation!

Pippa and her friends? Super well-developed. You see them grow from high schoolers into adults over the course of the books. It’s kind of like watching your favorite TV characters mature right before your eyes—so satisfying and honestly, a little emotional.

I have to mention the audiobook too. The way they bring the podcast vibe to life is just chef’s kiss. The whole thing is addictive from start to finish. Though, I’ll admit, the final book gets dark. Like really dark, really fast. The cozy mystery vibes from the first two books? Kind of vanish. But hey, the ride is still thrilling!

Despite some bumps in the road (hello, dark ending), this trilogy is solid gold.

Mini-Review:

This book had me from the jump. Pippa is such a likable character. She teams up with Sal’s brother Ravi, and their friendship? SO GOOD. They’ve got this chemistry that just works, and the way they tackle the mystery together is brilliant. It had me flipping pages like there was no tomorrow.

Rating: 4 / 5

Recommendation: Absolutely, YES.

The second book in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a fantastic sequel to the first book. Due to the events after Pip figured out the killer, Pip is not a detective anymore. With the help of Ravi, she releases a True crime podcast in which she discloses how she gets to the killer. The podcast has gone viral, and Pip insists that her detective days are behind her. But when someone she knows goes missing, she must break the promise and get back to investigating. Police are not ready to help Pip find Jamie; if they don’t look for Jamie, Pip will uncover more of her town’s dark secrets along the way… and this time, everyone is listening. But will she find him before it’s too late?

Mini-Review:

The stakes are seriously raised in this one. Suddenly, everyone seems suspicious, and you don’t know who to trust. The suspense is dialed up, and the mystery stays tight till the end. Plus, Pip and Ravi’s relationship? Growing strong. Loved it.

Pip is still haunted by the way her last investigation ended. She is having trouble sleeping. She is about to head to college but leaving her nightmares behind is difficult. She’s used to online death threats in the wake of her viral true-crime podcast, but she can’t help noticing an anonymous person who keeps asking her: Who will look for you when you’re the one who disappears? Soon she realized that someone was following her and as usual the Police won’t take the threats seriously. As the deadly game plays out, Pip discovers that everything in her small town is coming full circle . . .and if she doesn’t find the answers, this time she will be the one who disappears. . .

Mini-Review:

Okay, this one’s a bit of a wild ride. Pippa has grown up, and the tone gets way darker. The cozy mystery vibe? Pretty much gone. I kind of missed it, but the story is still super fast-paced and intense. You’ll want to see how it all wraps up.

Rating: 3.5 / 5

Recommendation: Yes, only because you must read the conclusion and bid goodbye to Pip and Ravi.

Conclusion

Rating: 4 / 5

Recommendation: If you’re into books like One of Us is Lying or Truly Devious, this is totally up your alley. It’s got all the intrigue, fascinating characters, and twisty-turny plotlines that’ll keep you glued to the page.

So, yeah. Go grab A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. You’re gonna love it!
