In Supernatural Academy: Year One, Maddison, the main character, does not know anything about her supernatural abilities and is thrown into the magical world. Can she survive this world? Further, she learns that no one can guess who she is. Is she a fey, vampire, shifter, demi-fey, or a magic user? Who is she? She has very unique abilities. And she is determined to find out who she is. It is a fascinating fantasy read.
Supernatural Academy: Year One Book Review
I found this book through Bookstagram (for those who don’t know what bookstagram is, it’s the book community on Instagram). I read its summary and instantly fell in love with it. This book is the first book written by Jaymin Eve that I have read. And it made Jaymin Eve an auto-buy author for me.
Supernatural Academy is a trilogy, i.e., there are three books in this series. And, as the title suggests, Supernatural Academy: Year One is the first part of this series. The second part is Supernatural Academy: Year Two. Finally, the final book in this series is Supernatural Academy: Year Three.
In Supernatural Academy, five kinds of supernaturals are mentioned: fey, demi-feys, vampires, magic users, and, my favorite, shifters. And the fantastic thing about this book is the shifter animals. There are not just wolf shifters. Other shifters include lions, rabbits, bears, tigers, dragons, etc. And these different shifter animals make this book different from other fantasy books I’ve read.
The description of the characters in this book is also unique. You can relate to them and feel their emotions throughout the story. And after reading this book, I felt like the characters were people in real life, and I was friends with them.
And, if you ask me what I liked the most in this book, then the answer is its plot. This book, Supernatural Academy: Year One, has a fantastic story. It is very beautifully built. Also, it keeps your attention until the end. There is lots of suspense and mystery, along with unexpected twists and turns.
World-building is also stunning. It feels like you are there and seeing things through the characters’ eyes. However, the book’s pace at the start was a bit slow. But then the remaining speed was perfect.
And the book ends amazingly as well. The curiosity and the excitement to read the next book in the trilogy are well maintained. You just can’t wait to grab the next book in the series.
If you have read Infernal Devices, Curse of the Gods, The Mortal Instruments, or any other book like this, then you might like this book too.
P.S.: This book is available on Kindle Unlimited. If you subscribe to it, you can read this book for free.
