Regretting You Book Review
So, I’ve been meaning to dive into one of Colleen Hoover’s books for a while, and guess what? I finally did! “Regretting You” popped up on my Kindle Unlimited, and I was like, “Okay, let’s do this!” And, boy, did I have thoughts.
First off, let me just say—the characters. Hoover nailed it with these people. I mean, she wrote them in such a way that you can’t help but get totally wrapped up in their lives. They’re relatable, they’re compelling, and you feel their emotions. It’s like you’re right there with them. And, thank goodness, there aren’t a million characters to keep track of, which is always a win.
Now, let’s talk about the title. “Regretting You” is so spot-on. It just clicks with the story. And, fun fact, the cover—oh man, that cover was what first caught my eye. I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like it. It’s striking, and it ties into the story in a way that makes sense. Plus, it’s just gorgeous to look at.
Here’s the thing, though. The book starts off really strong—like, the opening plot had me hooked. But as the story went on, it kind of lost a bit of its spark. Don’t get me wrong, there were some fun and exciting moments, but overall, it started to feel a little meh in parts.
That said, the pacing was pretty spot-on. Not too fast, not too slow—just the right rhythm to keep you reading. And one of my favorite parts? Watching the relationship between Clara and Morgan develop. It’s one of those mother-daughter relationships that really evolves throughout the book, and it’s honestly so fascinating to read.
Now, given that the book is called Regretting You and it’s labeled as romance, I did expect a little more in the love department. There’s romance, sure, but maybe not as much as you might think going in.
Oh! And the ending—I was fully prepared for some tragic, tear-jerking finale, but surprise, surprise, it’s a happy one! Totally unexpected and a definite plus in my book.
Conclusion
Recommendation: Yes, absolutely!
Rating: 4 / 5
If you’re into romance and a good emotional journey, give Regretting You a shot.
